Best wargame for iOS

This is by far the most fun tactical and strategic game for the iPad. The first few playthroughs I didnt really have the hang of it. However now I can win most games. Its all about punching through your enemy line and driving forward as much as possible. But the AI is good… And a lot of fun to play. When you get bored against The AI there appears to be good online play as well.

Love it

I loved the battle of the bulge and this one in my opinion is just as good and if not better. I love these games and this series needs to start making more in my opinion. Im excited for the next. But this game is for history buffs fr. Its a little pricy. No doubt about that. But I think its worth it. But seriously... The price is a little rough

Great wargame

Great game with loads of replayability. No two games are the same. Cant wait for their other games that are in development are released.

Tremendous

Tremendous game. Love the retro board game feel combined with iPad functionality. It feels massively realistic down to the glacial progress shuffling units through the front to face Moscow when the frosts comes. I like the unit mix, I like the geography and how it changes with the weather. Only wish play over internet was faster, especially during those dreary weeks orain

The best wargaming

O love this game! Really challenger

Addictive!!

Challenging operational gameplay! Each game from Shenandoah Studio continues to raise the bar.

Fun but ...Crash!

Ive played (or tried to) 4 times. Online with three different opponents. Each time the game has locked up on turns 13-15. A bummer after the time involved. Dont know if Ill try again.

OK, but...

First of all, let me say I am quite grateful that someone actually made this game, or games of this genre for the iPad. That being said, this game simply does not work. If you are of the school that says that you should be roughly able to duplicate what happened historically. You cant do that in this game. Basically to be successful, you have to sledge-hammer your way through the Soviet lines, which is not what Army Group Centre was doing at that stage of the war. The areas are too small. Armour does not move far enough. What made the Germans almost successful was the ability to exploit breakthroughs with their tanks and move swiftly over long distances, and encircle large bodies of troops. The exact same tactics the Soviets and Americans used later in the war. This is more like playing World War I battles.

Awesome game

Please keep making these! I cant wait for Gettysburg.

My favorite iPhone / iPad game.

I seriously love this game, its brilliant. If only they would update to expand the game or possibly create another game thats very like minded... Thats my only complaint. Though its not quite a complaint — its more of a suggestion. Good work! Im a huge fan.

Great, Deep, Historically Accurate

The Good: replay ability, depth, accuracy, historical detail, production values. The Bad: not cheap, some investment to become skillful. Please ignore the review that states the game does provide historical results, obviously the player is not experienced. A successful Axis player is forced to continuously encircle enemy troops. Failure to do this leads to the historical result of German troops bogged down, weakened and knocking on the gates before failure. This game has provided me with literal days of enjoyment. The depth of the random outcome generator is stunning. The details of the equipment, personalities and strategies will be deeply rewarding if you invest the time. AWESOME GAME, BUY IT.

Thorough Game, Awful Customer Support

The game is highly detailed however I have tried to reach customer support to no avail.

Update pleas?

Get your act together Slitherine. So many bugs with new iOS versions and no updates for over a year and a half. Why did you buy this company only to lets its games languish?

Sheisspiefen

Please do not update this game and ruin it like you did with Bulge. Leave it as it is.

Great turn based wargame

At first, I was put off by the previous reviewer that said could not duplicate Army Group Centers operational tactics. But ... 3 breakthrough lanes (3 panzer units): (1) North (i.e. Game left) Vladimirskoye (2) Center (middle) Zhukova (3) South (game right) Shostka * Interdict armor at Bryansk * Use 1st prepared offensives at 3 lanes * Use 2nd prepared offensives North & Center * Do no other attacks * Use movement only for mobile follow-on * Encircle Bryansk & Vyazma * Practice using PvP mode Love turn based games with a twist: back & forth moves & battles that puts a paramount importance on positional warfare: (1) Hit the enemy where they are most vulnerable in numbers & terrain (2) Surround the rest & starve them (2) Make the enemy attack your best defense in numbers & terrain to your advantage How else do you think the War in the East lasted so long: sledge hammers only work if you have the numbers. German sludge hammers failed at Stalingrad while the Russians broke threw the vulnerable German allies. The German sledge hammer approach will also fail at the Gates of Moscow. Battle to move - move to battle Movement costs time - battles cost lives Living to keep on moving, DuneWarrior

Wheres the rest of the game?

Downloaded the game. Played 1 game. Won. Ready for the next phase of the game.... Its missing. Not there. This is one simple game where your only option is to replay the same short game over and over and over. Rip off.

Forget about your ratings if you play

The gameplay is great in online competition, the AI is easily beaten. There is only one real problem and that is with the rating system. You battle on and on, slowly gaining ranking points, and it can be a struggle. There are some great players online and when you gain points playing against them it actually feels like you are gaining proficiency. At times, as always, people that you play against stop playing and after a certain period of time they "time out" which, in theory, ends the game and gives you the "win." The problem is that the timed out games stay in your active game list with no way to purge them. Slowly but surely your available game slots fill up with games that have timed out because someone else stopped playing. So this leaves you with fewer and fewer slots to play active games. The only way to purge the timed out games and start a new one is to "resign" yourself. Conveniently this clears the slot for a new game but guess what, right, when you resign is counts it as a loss against you and deducts points from your point ranking and adds them to your opponents ranking. So, go ahead, get started, play the game, just forget about your ranking because eventually you will have to resign games, and give back points just to keep open slots for active games. And forget about giving Shenandoah feedback about the problem because they NEVER get back to you and they have failed to fix this glitch since the inception of the game. 4 stars for playability, minus 1 for lack of attention to detail. Come on guys, get your act together.
